So who lives in this house, anyways? Joel DH Joel grew up in Chatham-Kent and spent his post-secondary years in Ottawa, but now hails from the Hammer. By day Joel is a framer for a small Ancaster-based construction company, and by night Joel can be seen playing ultimate frisbee, walking Oliver (see below), and chatting with friends over a good beer. Moved from the Chatham area to Hamilton in February 2010. Andrew works for a residential framing company in the Hamilton area. His favourite pastimes include diving, camping, fishing and sports. Adrian & Lea S I (Adrian) am a recent graduate from Lakehead University and I am now working at a summer camp called Camp Shalom. I enjoy mountian biking, ultimate frisbee, and soccer. I (Lea) was country born and raised in South Central Clougher. I Took my BA and BEd at Nipissing University. Following my university career I worked as a supply teacher in Simcoe County. September 2008, I gave up supplying to get married and move to Hamilton to do ministry. I am currently working part-time for Forestview Community Church in Grimsby as a Youth Leader and am hoping to get back into the teaching world. I have a passion for unloved children and for the kids in our community. I can't wait to see what God is going to do in this neighbourhood!
Marijke S Marijke is pretty darned happy to be here. She grew up in Hamilton, lived on the beach in New Brunswick for awhile, studied Theatre and English, spent a few awesome years in camp ministry, and is currently an M.Div student at MacDiv (but thinks some of our best learning takes place over a meal, in a canoe, or on the playground). She's into art, camping, writing, music, spirituality, kayaking, biking, poetry, experimental cooking, growing things, beating Marion in wrestling matches, and talking about books over a cup of coffee or a beer. She’s excited by how our God of peace repairs broken walls…. Marion VA Born in The Netherlands and lived there until I was just about 12 years of age. Then I moved to the area of Woodstock, Ontario with my family. I have a Animal Biology degree from the University of Guelph. I came to Hamilton to live with these pretty cool people, and can't wait to see how God will use us here in Hamilton! During the past three summers I have worked at Camp Shalom, and after camp I work for a construction landscaping company - both of which I enjoy! I like being around people, being outdoors, listening to music/playing trumpet and will let Marijke win the next wrestling match so her statement is true! haha. Rachel VO
Well hello there. my name is Rachel van Oostveen and i am so happy to be living here @ the matthew 25 house! i've been involved as an outside member since its inception but now i am actually a resident! I grew up (for the majority of my childhood) in a small town called blackstock, north of oshawa. I just spent the last six years of my life in waterloo, following educational pursuits at wilfrid laurier university, finishing a bachelors and masters degree in kinesiology. I am currently working as a kinesiologist in a physiotherapy clinic in ancaster but pursuing a career in medicine (if they let me in!). I love me some music, some friends and family and most definitely some heavenly Father! I am pumped to see what God has in store for me but more for the house, the community and the beautiful city of hamilton! Oliver
A reddish purebred Golden Retriever who is about 7 years of age. He moved from Ottawa to Hamilton and now lives at the Matthew 25 house. He loves getting attention, trying to steal peoples food, and going on walks.
